At AZ Dog Smart we get asked all the time how does one become a certified dog trainer. Our first question in return is, “do you want a job you love?” When it comes to hiring a new dog trainer, we only want the best and only hire the best. Loving what you do for a living is very high on our list of candidate qualifications.
So, I wasn’t surprised when I recently asked our trainers for some of the reasons they wanted to become a certified dog trainer. They were very willing to share, and one of those reasons is that you get to make your own hours!
When you decide to become a certified dog trainer, you don’t need much in the form of tangible capital. No office space, no extra computers or phones or heavy equipment…just your smarts! And because of this you also get to set your own hours. You can work as little or as much as you want. If you want your business to grow like gangbusters, then you should begin to market yourself like crazy! Hit the pavement, jump on social media, just get the word out. Getting to set your own hours is a good thing, but you do have to put forth some effort getting to the spot financially where you are free to call your own shots. But even until then, you decide when and how much you market yourself. So your dream job can start now!
There is a downside to having a job that is not M-F, 9-5…you might be working on the weekends. But you can just make your weekend any other day of the week!
If you like to make your own hours, wear comfy clothes, combine exercise & work, and enjoy talking to people; then becoming a certified dog trainer may be the job of your dreams. There are many resources to choose from. Check into a dog training academy that provides accredited trainers and a certification program. If you love dogs, want a flexible job, and you want to educate others about what you love, this may be your dream career!
